Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their family members to become permanent residents.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their family members to become permanent residents. Eligible sponsors can bring their spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parents, or grandparents to Canada. The sponsor must meet certain income requirements and demonstrate the ability to support their family members financially.

You may be eligible to sponsor a child, spouse, or common-law partner living outside or inside Canada if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Financial Support
When sponsoring a family member, whether it is your dependent child or spouse/common-law partner, parents or grandparents you promise to support them financially for a specified period of time.
This is an unconditional commitment for the sponsor no matter what changes would occur in the relationship after the family member/s become permanent resident/s.
